Colours of the Afghan Flag and its meaning

BLACK is the time period of the three Anglo-Afghan wars between 1839-1919, in which Afghanistan fought three brutal wars with the British. Afghanistan was never a colony of the British or any other country but Britain had control of the Afghan foreign affairs, until August 19,1919.
RED is blood and war, the struggle for freedom and also represents poverty, hardship.
GREEN means Peace and symbolizes the colour of Islam.
